SAVIOLA is a company funded in 1897. It boasts over 100 years of experience in the production of GranaPadano and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. The company is still run by the Saviola family, who has a long tradition on the field of cheese making. To the complete satisfaction of its costumers, the company still uses the best ingredients available in combination with the most updated technology in order to guarantee the highest quality standards for its products.
Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano are two cheese varieties which are protected and controlled by their relevant consortia. The consortium mark is fire branded on the rind only if the cheese meets with the strict production disciplinary foreseen by the consortium and only if it was made using the milk from the PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) areas declared by the European Union. Since fresh milk from the PDO areas only can be processed into cheese and in order to grant the origin of its product, the company SAVIOLA has set up a production plant in the Parmigiano Reggiano area and two production plants in the Grana Padano area. Grana Padano can be exclusively produced in the following Italian regions: Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto, Trentino (in the province of Trento only) and in the northern part of Emilia Romagna.
Parmigiano Reggiano, instead, can be produced exclusively in the provinces of Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, on the right hand side bank of the Po River in the province of Mantua and on the left hand side bank of the Reno River. When packaging our products we always take the requirements of the market into great consideration. In this respect, the company SAVIOLA has always played an outstanding role since it has always paid great attention to the changes in the demand. Cheese wheels are portioned, grated, flaked and then packaged with the highest technologies.
