Monserrato was founded in 1973 to realize the dream of Francesco Zecchina, a Neapolitan builder passionate about wine, who a few years earlier decided to realize his passion on the hills between Benevento and Pietrecina, at the foot of Mount Serrato.
With the help of a young friend and farmer, he started planting tobacco and olive trees, halfway up the hill and south-facing, on an area of 60 hectares, watered exclusively with spring water. At the end of the 80s, the production was of tobacco, olives, and grapes, while oil and wine were produced for friends and relatives.
After a period of transition, the company has been entrusted in recent years to Paola and Lucio, Francesco's daughter and nephew, and a company modernization process has been launched with the aim of introducing new indigenous vines, expanding the olive-growing area and the replacement of tobacco production with ancient and organic crops, a sincere and historic expression of the territory. Currently, three oil labels and a line of five wine labels are produced from the company's olive groves and vineyards.
