Clos Montblanc is the consolidation of a family project that has a long wine making tradition with over 300 years of experience and dedication to the vineyard and to its fruit.
In 1988, the Carbonell Figueras family started the “Clos Montblanc” cellar project.
Located in Barberà de la Conca, the cellar is a stone’s throw away from two emblematic sites in Catalan history: the fortified city of Montblanc and the monastery of Poblet. A land full of history and tradition where Cistercian monks settled over a thousand years ago, intent on discovering the road to perfection. A spirit still present in the soul of this land’s inhabitants and reflected in the way its people work.
Clos Montblanc red wines combine the spirit of local varieties such as Trepat, Ull de Llebre or Grenache with foreign breeds like Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon or Syrah in a symbiosis of character and personality.
Whites wines harmonize the country’s traditional Macabeu with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, adding balance to the blend.
And rosés are made from varieties like Trepat, Ull de Llebre, Merlot, Cabernet and Pinot Noir in a special "waterfall" fermentation process, named for the distinctive feature of these wines’ production.
And Cava, white & rose, the tradition and legacy of Conca de Barberà.
Our oenologist Josep Valdrí has worked in a variety of settings, making wine with colleagues from areas as varied as France, Chile or Australia. These collaborations have left a mark on his oenology, characterized by avant-garde wines where the fruit is expressed as well as the aging and where every variety reveals its most personal character.
