Poesia Garnacha is made at the Padró family winery just south of Barcelona. What is interesting about the Padró family is that over five generations they have distilled spirits, made wines (including mistelas and other fortified wines) and become masters of vermouth. On the wine side, the family now specialises in making light, fruity Mediterranean-style wines under different brands, each one representing something of who the family are. Poesía is poetry in Spanish and this brand is one of two Padró brands which take literary inspiration. After all, wouldn’t we all agree that wine is worth writing about – waxing lyrical even? The label also shows a rose, a symbol which is an integral part of tradition and culture in Catalonia. Poesía Garnacha is 100% red garnacha, a variety that is autochthonous to our area. We carry out a special 5-day maceration of the must and grapes at 25ºC and then halfway through the alcoholic fermentation, we separate the skins from the must and the fermentation of the now clear must is completed at low temperature (18ºC). Vinification is focused on retaining the young character of the wine, bringing out the fruit, spices and floral notes characteristic of the red garnacha grape. Well-defined aromas of summer fruits such as blackberries enveloped in very fragrant floral memories. Refreshingly light sensations in the mouth making this wine an excellent red for the summer.
